Probably an unfair slander on the engineers. Also, just because something is ingeniously designed doesn't mean it is the better or best solution to the problem at hand. It could represent fabulous thinking but still fall short on a parameter the engineers might not even have been told to consider. But the bike and component companies always make a big time about how exquisitely they have designed things. I'm just tweaking their beaks.cafiendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05749761363337659545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9241204.post-45946388136149117932009-05-04T08:57:00.000-05:002009-05-04T08:57:00.000-05:00I think the guys in the marketing department had a...I think the guys in the marketing department had as much to do with it as the engineers.

/Engineer

//passing the blameAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9241204.post-85059441705049133392009-05-01T18:43:00.000-05:002009-05-01T18:43:00.000-05:00After reading this I am suffering. After reading this I am suffering.Silent Angstnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9241204.post-69339641531240452942009-05-01T17:48:00.000-05:002009-05-01T17:48:00.000-05:00ooo - can you fix the front derailleur on mine, pl...ooo - can you fix the front derailleur on mine, please? Only the problem is that it the front shifter has seized because I never use anything other than the big ring even though I spray whenever I get home after riding in the rain. Yes I know I could fix it myself by stripping it, cleaning and greasing but it would only go again. And it's not that bad because If I kick it hard enough I can get it to move onto the 2nd cog and I've never used the granny, anyway.Hamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17182921009517833997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9241204.post-75506067275077966012009-05-01T08:33:00.000-05:002009-05-01T08:33:00.000-05:00Should have googled first. Indexed is so much better/easier".

I thought I was just showing my age. Not than I'm (ahem) contemplating building a geared tourer next or anything, does the big S make friction shifters still?
